Description
The Spectre is a former angel named Aztar who is a supernatural being of near-unlimited power to unleash the “Wrath of God” upon evil men. Jim Corrigan was a police detective murdered by gangsters who agreed to act as the mortal host of spirit of The Spectre. The Spectre first appeared in MORE FUN COMICS #52 in 1940 and was created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily.

It never ceases to amuse me that one of the grimmer supernatural superhero types (with an origin right out of a slasher movie) got his start in a series with such a cheery title!
